For the first time ever Blists Hill Victorian Town, near Ironbridge has two Halloween events including a gentle spooky experience for younger visitors as well as its scarier Ghostly Gaslight fright night. Whichever you choose, remember to dress up in your most frightening outfit, bring a torch and prepare for the unexpected.
Created for under 8s accompanied by their grownups, Candy and Cobwebs is a Trick or Treat night on Friday, 26 October between 5pm and 7pm. Collect a fun activity sheet on arrival and begin exploring the Upper Town’s historic streets, which will be decorated with lanterns, cobwebs and carved pumpkins as dusk descends. Dip a candle in autumnal colours, listen to a creepy story, colour-in a pumpkin picture and knock on doors to ask for a treat from the spooky Townsfolk. Little people completing all the activities will receive a goody bag at the Photographers to take home. The Coffee Shop and Fish and Chip Fryers will also be open with drinks and food for appetites big and small.
Tickets for Candy and Cobwebs are priced at £5 for adults (16+), £7 for children (aged 2-15) and £20 for a family (2 + 2). Non-participating under 2s are free, but still need a ticket for entry. Parking is available onsite at £3 per vehicle.
Feeling brave? Then join the ghosts, ghouls and monsters at Blists Hill for the annual Ghostly Gaslight night on Saturday 27 October, 6pm - 9pm. In addition to all the Halloween characters watch out for hungry dinosaurs and lizard like mutant Victorians walking the streets.
For one night only the Victorian shops and cottages are occupied with gruesome characters and wild apparitions. Vampires, blood thirsty butchers, the Grim Reaper and werewolves are taking over the Town. Find out if reports are true about the scientists who have secretly recreated dinosaurs in the Blists Hill Woods. Rumours abound that the dinosaurs have escaped and are looking for dinner. What’s worse some of the Victorian Townsfolk have been contaminated with Dinosaur DNA and are mutating into lizard like creatures. Ride the ‘Scare-o-Planes’ and ‘Scream-Boats’ in the fairground, if you dare!
Amazing light and sound effects will change the Town’s normally peaceful streets into shadowy walkways and the pyrotechnic display along the canal will create an awesome spectacle. You will also find lots of sinful food and drinks in the Fish Fryers, New Inn Pub, Sweet Shop, Bakery and cafés around the Town.
Tickets for Ghostly Gaslight are £13 for adults (16+), £9.50 for children (aged 3-15) and £40 for a family (2 + 2). There is limited parking at Blists Hill with priority given to Blue Badge holders, visitors are advised to use the park and ride from Jiggers Bank (TF4 3QE).
