Sundown Cinema Returns!
Our popular, original outdoor cinema experience is back this summer. Returning with some classic titles and special irreverent flourishes, the Sundown Cinema programme at MAC is set to be a winner this summer. Not only will our guests enjoy fabulous films, but we will be crafting a special menu for the events including delicious street food, cocktails and more!
Monty Python’s Life Of Brian | Sat 10 Aug | 8.45pm
Is there a better place to watch the classic Monty Python film Life Of Brian than in our outdoor Amphitheatre Arena? Sit back and enjoy the story of Brian Cohen (Chapman), a Jewish anti-Roman activist mistaken for the Messiah through a series of unfortunate coincidences, near-constant misunderstandings and exaggerations by his growing band of clueless followers. A Monty Python masterpiece – and one not to be missed.
Withnail & I | Sat 17 Aug | 8.30pm
Join us for an outdoor screening of cult classic, Withnail & I. Based on the real-life experiences of former actor turned writer/director Bruce Robinson, Withnail & I has become one of British cinema’s most fondly remembered comedies. Follow the story of two struggling actors (Paul McGann and Richard E. Grant) as they exchange their Camden Town flat for a week in the Lake District – one far removed from the countryside respite the pair hoped for, and instead a disastrous holiday filled with booze, torrential rain, and the petulant Uncle Monty. Introduced by Withnail Brum scrubbers, Matt Bowsher and Hugh Evans, this hedonistic screening promises to be a sheer delight – even on the umpteenth viewing. Chin chin!
We’ve packed our outdoor programme with events for all ages to ensure there’s a little something for everyone. To see our full list of events and to buy tickets, head to our website at: www.macbirmingham.co.uk.
